RSC Associate Schools Programme News
On Thursday 10 November, Shane and Jaqueline, from our Spires Academy Satellite Class, travelled to The Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon to take part in the first ever Young Leaders meeting. They worked with representatives from other SEN Associate schools to create a manifesto for inclusion. They will be advising the RSC company on youth and disability issues and taking a lead role in running a symposium in the new year. As well as taking part in workshops, the students went on a guided tour of the theatre and attended a special performance of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.
S4A and the St Nicholas College drama group have also been devising their own plays for the 37 Plays Project. Class S4A will be attending a playwriting workshop with a professional playwright on Tuesday 22 November at the Marlowe Kit. Extracts from these plays will be performed at the Marlowe in January 2023.
The Daisy Farris Dance Collective
In terms 1 and 2 KS3 and four students, from Khalo, Temple, Webster and Wonder Classes, took part in a dance project with The Daisy Farris Dance Collective. The students explored emotions through movement and dance and created a choreography to share on the performance day. The company performed their latest piece, These 4 Walls, on 20 October to an appreciative audience of students.
Ash Mukherjee Dance Theatre
We are thrilled to welcome back the wonderful Ash Mukhergee who will be running Indian Classical and Bollywood dance and storytelling sessions with students from across the school on Friday 25 November.
Alice in Wonderland – Immersive Show
Following on from the success of previous immersive shows; we will be presenting our own St Nicholas School version of Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice in Wonderland on three school sites at the end of May. Students from across the school will be creating sets, puppets, songs, films and drama based on the story.
