We are continually looking for realistic work based learning opportunities for our young people, and we have partnered with a number of establishments to provide this. These experiences provide students with the opportunity to develop their social skills, find out areas of interest, develop functional skills in relation to time management.

We work closely with Brogdale CIC who provide our students with a range of horticultural, and craft experiences at Brogdale Farm in Faversham, and Muddy Wellies Farm in Ashford. They also provide catering and hospitality experiences at their cafes, where students gain their food hygiene award.

We also have a great new link with The Umbrella Café in Whitstable, where students are able to work in a busy running café using the till, serving customers and preparing food etc. Currently we work with The FAR Academy who offer a construction course, where previously students have made clocks, skateboards, and a variety of animal houses.

Brogdale cic

We have a great partnership with Brogdale cic and they offer great opportunities for our students to get some meaningful work experience. They have a lovely farm in Ashford called 'Muddy Wellies' where our students participate in a range of horticulture activities. They also produce a variety of preserves and crafts which are then sold regularly at the Faversham weekend market stall. Brogdale CIC also offer us a catering and hospitality experience in their 'Food with Freinds' cafe's - one based in Faversham and one in Ashford. Some of our students practise their travel training skills to use public transport to get to the café then spend the day serving customers, working with money, taking orders, preparing food and the clean up that goes with it!

Brogdale cic also offer a wide range of youth clubs and activities outside of school times, so take a look at their website to find out more! http://brogdalecic.co.uk/

The FAR Aacademy

We have a great link with this community project who offer a range of construction and woodwork type projects for our students to engage with. They have made some excellent items, they have around an 18 week block on this course and the student feedback is always very positive. Find out more about the FAR academy via their website: http://thefaracademy.co.uk/
