Owl Class

We are a Key stage 1 class and follow the formal Willow pathway.

In Owl class we like to explore a range of sensory activities and have a very hands on approach to learning. We utilise the TEACCH approach in our literacy and numeracy lessons, which allows the children to develop their group work and independence skills, as well as their social and communication skills in the leisure activity. We use this approach as it maintains engagement for short periods of time, which we can build upon as the class grows and develops,

One of our favourite sessions is bucket, we can get a bit messy in this session but that is part of the fun. We enjoy the anticipation of something happening especially if it is loud or colourful.

News updates

Our topic for term 6 is Transport. The books we will be focusing on will be:

  • The journey home from Grandpas
  • The naughty bus
  • Whose vehicle is this?

Every Monday we have PE. If you could send your child in with or wearing trainers, joggers/PE shorts and a t-shirt for this session.

On Thursdays we use the hydro pool in school. We are using a three week rota to ensure all children get an opportunity to attend.

Please can you ensure that your child comes into school with sun cream, a sun hat and a water bottle so we can ensure they are kept safe and cool in this hot weather.

We would also appreciate having swimwear or a change of clothes in school so we can set up water play at break times.
