Dear Parents and Carers

I have tried to clarify for you below how we are operating now during this Covid 19 crisis. 
We will continue to ask for children to be collected from school if they are exhibiting symptoms of Covid 19 or are unwell. 
The rest of the class bubble will remain in school and parents/carers will be informed of what has happened. 
We believe that this will be less disruptive to all of the children’s education and the running of the school. 

What to do if:

Action needed:

Return to school when:

  • My child has Covid 19 symptoms
  • A high temperature (37.8)
  • A new, continuous cough
  • A loss or change to their sense of smell or taste
  • They do not come to school
  • Contact school to inform us
  • Get a test
  • Inform the school of the test result
  • The test result comes back negative or
  • A period of ten days has passed since the symptoms started and your child is well

My child tests positive for Covid 19

  • They do not come to school
  • Contact school to inform us
  • Agree date of earliest return (at least 10 days)
  • Self –isolate the household
  • A period of ten days has passed since the symptoms started and your child is well

My child tests negative

  • Inform the school
  • Your child returns to St. Nicholas

My child is ill with symptoms not linked to Covid 19

  • They do not come to school
  • Contact school to inform us about their illness
  • Your child returns to St. Nicholas possibly after 48 hours (e.g. following the last bout of sickness and/or diarrhea)

Someone in my household has Covid 19 symptoms

  • Your child does not come to school
  • Contact school to inform us
  • Selfisolate the whole household
  • Household member gets test
  • Inform school of test result
  • Your child returns when the test result is negative

Someone in my household tests positive for Covid 19

  • Your child does not come to school
  • Contact school to inform us
  • Selfisolate the whole household
  • Your child has completed 14 days of isolation

NHS Test and Trace has identified my child as a close contact of someone with symptoms or confirmed Covid 19

  • Your child does not come to school
  • Contact school to inform us

 

  • Your child has completed 14 days of isolation

NHS Test and Trace has identified a household member (not my child) as a close contact of somebody with symptoms of confirmed Covid 19

  • The household member must selfisolate for 14 days
  • Your child can still attend St. Nicholas

A sibling attending another school has been sent home to self-isolate due to there being a positive case in their school

  • The sibling must selfisolate for 14 days
  • Your child can continue to attend St. Nicholas

I am unable to get a test for someone in the household who has symptoms

  • If you cannot get a test within the first 5 days of having the symptoms, your child must stay at home for 14 days
  • Your child has completed 14 days of selfisolation

My child has travelled to country that is on the list where quarantine is needed upon return

  • Your child does not come to school
  • Inform the school of your return from abroad
  • Your child has completed 14 days of quarantine

My child has medical advice that they must resume shielding

  • Your child does not come to school
  • Contact to school to inform us
  • Your child has received medical advice that it is safe for them to resume schooling
