Online Lessions/Socialisation Opportunities for Home Learners: Since the Covid-19 school closure and phased re-opening, St Nicholas School begun to deliver online learning and video conferencing lessons. Staff and Students taking part will need to abide by all school/class rules and follow the guidance of the document National Online Safety - A guide to safe Live Lessons.
Isolating: Pupils who need to isolate at home are able to access a variety of online lessons via Zoom. Pupils required to isolate will be provided with their own individual online timetable for lessons with their teacher and class. In addition to this, we regularly update the 6th form page to support with additional home learning tasks; worksheets, stories, PowerPoints and life skills for home. This PowerPoint is a brilliant tool to teach your pupils all about Pancake Day. It's full of brightly coloured illustrations to aid with visual learning and to keep the kids engaged.
Covering topics such as the origin of Pancake Day and traditions linked to the celebration, this PowerPoint is fantastic to use when you're teaching children all about Pancake Day. It also shows the ingredients in pancakes and how they're made in case you want to have a go yourself.
When it's Pancake Day, this PowerPoint is great to whip out to teach children everything they need to know about it and why we celebrate it. It would be a fantastic idea to go through the slides before you make pancakes with children too.

Here is the power point for today's Art session. We are continuing to look at the Chinese New Year. The PowerPoint involves an Art activity as well as information for the lesson. The only materials you will need for the session are paper, pens, pencils, felts or paints and something round to draw around such as a plate, a biscuit tin etc... see you at 1pm!
What is a virus? What happens inside your body when you get sick? Why can’t we see our friends and family right now? During this global pandemic this little book is a tool to help children and parents talk about tricky subjects and understand what our wonderful immune systems are doing to protect us and what we can do to help ourselves and most importantly reduce some of the fear and anxiety. The book contains a short story, colourful illustrations, a breathing exercise to reduce anxiety, a recipe and ideas to get creative plus some of the resources available if you need additional support.
