Welcome to the summer term and the hot weather. Can I remind you to supply suncream and hats for your children for sun protection as the playground does not have much shade.

This term we will be the last for Angela Pike, who has been at the school for thirty years and, who has been incredibly important for the school’s development in her role as Deputy Headteacher over the last 18 years.  Angela has personified the values of the school in her devotion to the children’s learning and well-being and to supporting parents and carers. We will miss her wise advice and unstinting commitment and wish her well in her retirement.

The school has re-organised its management team to try to fill the gap of Angela’s departure and after a thorough interview process has appointed two new Assistant Headteachers from the current management team who will be taking up their new posts in September. Lorna Sullivan will be Assistant Head for the Secondary Department and Nathalie Akhmatova will be Assistant Head for the Primary Department.  Stephen King and Gillian Newport continue in their roles to make up the full senior leadership team.

Transition events for the classes will be taking place this term and you will shortly receive news of the September arrangements for your child. You will also receive a school report and an opportunity to meet with the class teacher to discuss it.

The Local Authority is asking parents to complete a questionnaire about special educational needs. This is the link: http://www.kent.gov.uk/education-and-children/special-educational-needs/local-offer-your-voice#tab-5‚Äč

There are details of the Summer events on this newsletter and I look forward to seeing you at these.
